ACTIVITIES
Rima has a quiet atmosphere, close to nature and mountain culture. It’s a small village closed to car traffic. The only noise you can hear is the murmur of its many fountains. In spite of that it offers many activities to practice on your own or with the community.
NATURE
Rima is the perfect place for people who love walking: from the centre of the village many paths climb up on the mountains, well flagged and suitable for everyone. Rima is in the Alta Valsesia nature reserve and is a stop over in the GTA (the Grande Traversata delle Alpi), of the Via Alpina and of the Sentiero dei Walser, amazing tracks in the most beautiful valleys of the Alps. There are some campfires and two equipped mountain huts: the Rifugio Vallé and the Rifugio Ferioli, both open in summer and provided with winter bivouacs.
SPORTS
All the year round in Rima and in the surroundings you can practise many sports: alpine skiing, skiing (the ski tow is few minute far by car, in Rimasco), cross-country skiing (the ski run is few minute far by car, in Carcoforo), icefall climbing; tennis and mini soccer (tennis court and playing field in Rima), climbing, rafting (the mooring point is 20’ far by car, in Balmuccia). Moreover, the area of Rima is populated of fishing and hunting fans.
ARTS
Rima is like a museum an plein air, an untouched example of traditional Walser village developed century after century, where every narrow street hides architectural and handy-crafted masterpieces. In the summer the City of Rima and the Comunità Montana, in cooperation with the ecomuseum of the Alta Valsesia, offer tours to discover Rima and its history: the S. Giovanni Battista parish church (1635) and the Beata Vergine delle Grazie oratory (1480); the Pietro Della Vedova Plaster Cast Museum and the Museo del Marmo Artificiale, where is possible to attend the training course to learn the widespread famous faux marbling technique.
FEASTS AND FESTIVALS
In the area of Rima there are many festivals and wine and gastronomy fairs: La festa dell’Assunzione di Maria on August 15th, with the procession in traditional clothes; the Risotto in Piazza (in August) and the Potato Fair, both organized by the local Pro Loco. In addition to them there are some inviting restaurant in Rima and surroundings: the Grillo Brillo in Rima, the Restaurant Nonay in S. Giuseppe, the Genzianella and the Laghetto in Rimasco, the Alpenrose and Lo Scoiattolo in Carcoforo
